Hand Squeezes and Walking on Water
There is the saying: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade - well, what if you don't have lemons??
I would walk all of my children to school, from the baby girl to the oldest boy, they would all be walked to and from school for the 1st years anyway. Rain, snow, scorching heat… it didn’t matter. They all got the same treatment – a brisk walk from home to school accompanied by the occasional squeezing of the hand. You see, I had this thing where, while we were walking and holding hands, I would give their little hand a little squeeze of the knuckles… lol. They would always look up at me with a smile and an “Ouch”. I did that not to hurt them, after all it was just a slight squeeze. It was a reminder that I was still there and will always be there. You see, the school was a 15 min walk, and while we were walking, it would sometimes get quiet after a while, and the holding of the hand tended to become “routine”. That squeeze always broke the monotony. It usually resulted in giggles and more conversation. My kids still remember those moments to this day. Life is not routine. It has routines to help keep order, but nothing about this life should ever be treated as automatic. When we walk with The Father on this journey called life, we may find ourselves in situations where our Lord and Savior will sometimes squeeze our hand. Always remember to keep your eyes on Him. It is only to get our attention.
Matthew 14:28-31 - He is always there, and His love never, ever fails.
