A Call to Prayer in Times of Turmoil
My apologies for the posting error and missing this post for last Shabath. Here is the message for last Shabath 10.17.2026
As we honor this Shabath, I am reminded of the importance of prayer in times of turmoil. The One Year Bible reading for this week, particularly in 1 Timothy 2:1-15, emphasizes the need for supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, including those in authority. We are directed to pray for them and quiet honestly would you rather have the righteous people of YaHWaH pray for Yah's justice and mercy or the people of the enemy prey on any and everything they can manipulate? The issue of prayer is especially relevant in light of the current escalation of military tensions between European powers and Russia, with nuclear warnings being met with further military buildup. YaHWaH is not surprised by these events, and as we see in Jeremiah 30:1-31:26, He has a way of dealing with nations that rise up against Him.
The pattern Scripture describes in Jeremiah 30-31 is one of judgment and destruction for those who trust in their own strength and wealth, rather than in YaHWaH. Idumea, Moab, and other nations are warned of their impending doom, not because YaHWaH delights in destruction, but because He is a righteous Judge who will not tolerate rebellion forever. As we see in the poetic la guage of Psalm 87:1-7, YaHWaH loves the gates of Sion (Zion or Jerusalem) and has founded her, but He also warns the nations of their sins and calls them to repentance.
