When YaHWaH Uses Unlikely Sources

As we honor this Shabbat, I am reminded of the incredible ways YaHWaH works in our lives, even when we least expect it. In our reading from Ezra 7:1-8:20, we see how King Artaxerxes, a pagan ruler, is used by YaHWaH to bless His people. Despite the Israelites' disobedience, YaHWaH remains faithful to His covenant, demonstrating His unwavering commitment to those He loves.

In Isaiah 48:1, we read how YaHWaH says, "I have sworn by My Own Right Hand." This oath is a powerful reminder that YaHWaH's faithfulness is not dependent on our actions, but rather on His own character. Even when we weren't faithful, YaHWaH swore by His Own Right Hand, underscoring His determination to keep His promises.

As I reflect on this, I am struck by the fact that YaHWaH can use anyone, regardless of their background or beliefs, to accomplish His purposes. King Artaxerxes' decree allowing the Israelites to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple is a testament to YaHWaH's sovereignty. It shows us that YaHWaH is always working, even in the midst of our disobedience, to bring about His plans, keeping His promises, fulfilling His covenant.

In 1 Corinthians 4:1-21, we are reminded that our faithfulness is not the basis of YaHWaH's faithfulness. Rather, it is YaHWaH's character that guarantees His covenant promises.

In Psalm 30:1-12, YaHWaH is our Rock, our Redeemer, and our Healer. He is the one who lifts us up and sets our feet on solid ground. As the old hymn goes, He picks us up out of the miry clay and puts our feet on a rock to stay

In Proverbs 20:28-30, we are reminded that YaHWaH's faithfulness is a shield to those who trust in Him. As we trust in YaHWaH's covenant faithfulness, may we experience His peace, joy, and protection.
