Amazing GRACE, How Sweet the Sound... BUT The LAW is the Instrument

As we honor this Shabbat, I am drawn to the rich tapestry of Scripture that unfolds before us in our readings. In 2 Chronicles 17:1-18:34, we witness the faithfulness of King Jehoshaphat, who walks in the ways of YaHWaH, and as a result, experiences the blessings of The Most High. This narrative serves as a powerful reminder that our trust in YaHWaH is the foundation upon which our relationship with Him is built.

In Romans 9:25-10:13, the Apostle Paul delves into the mysteries of YaHWaH's mercy, highlighting that He has mercy on whom He wills. This declaration is closely tied to the concept of grace, which is rooted in the spirit, as opposed to the law of sin, which is of the flesh. Paul's discussion on Abraham's trust in YaHWaH and how it was counted to him as righteousness is particularly noteworthy. Abraham's faith was not based on his physical circumcision, but rather on his trust in YaHWaH's promises, demonstrating that true faith is a matter of the heart.

This theme is beautifully echoed in Psalm 20:1-9, where we read, "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of YaHWaH our Adonai." Here, we see that trust in YaHWaH is not merely an intellectual assent, but a deep-seated reliance on His power and goodness. As we reflect on Proverbs 20:2-3, we are reminded that the fear of YaHWaH is the beginning of knowledge, and that it is the wise who turn away from evil.
