Scattered Yet Not Lost

Introduction As we honor this Shabbat, we find ourselves immersed in the stories of old, where the fate of Israel and Judah unfolds. The readings for this week, spanning from 2 Kings 1:1-2:25, Acts 13:42-14:7, Psalm 139:1-24, and Proverbs 17:19-21, weave a complex tapestry of disobedience, scattering, and the relentless pursuit of the Most High.

The Scattering of Israel In 2 Kings, we witness the transition of power from Elijah to Elisha, set against the backdrop of a divided kingdom. The sins of Saul and Solomon, which contributed to the splitting of Israel and Judah, have far-reaching consequences. The tribes are scattered due to disobedience, a testament to the enduring impact of our choices. Yet, even in scattering, the Most High remains faithful, seeking to gather His people back to Himself.

A Persistent Love Psalm 139 reminds us of the intimate knowledge the Most High has of us. YaHWaH searches us and knows us, aware of our sitting down and rising up. He understands our thoughts from afar and is familiar with all our ways. This profound understanding is not to condemn but to redeem, a demonstration of His persistent love. In Acts, we see this love in action as Adonai opens the hearts of the Gentiles to the message of Yeshua, illustrating that His salvation is not limited by our disobedience or scattering.
